Internet issues.. Called Time Warner and get a load of crap about how its my house that's likely the problem. Explain to them that I've hooked my modem up OUTSIDE to the cable from the street before it enters my home and am still getting weak signal. My down stream signal is -8 but my upstream is hanging between 55- 60 and I'm dropping like crazy and have download speed of an incredible 0.51 mbps! I'm no wiz but I'm also no dummy now we wait until Wednesday for service between 7am and eternity. On a side note I will have a crisp 50 handy just in case the guy wants to accidentally drill the filter to give me free basic cable..

You must be new to Time Warner.

My down stream signal is -8

So.. Negative 8 Mbps? Your internet is so slow, data gets sucked out of your machine when you use it instead of the other way around? Damn son...

Q: How much fun is steam when you live behind a 150GB cap with two other people?

A: None at all :( I'm still downloading stuff from last years summer steam sale...

I on the other hand, am perfectly fine with time warner.

Kinja'd!!!

I'm only supposed to be getting 30 down, and I'm getting 33-34, and I often get 5.7 up when I test it, and I'm only supposed to be getting 5 up.

They are the only place that has decently fast internet around here, but anytime I test it, I always get a little bit faster than im supposed to.

Just moved from an old (55 year old) house that was quick to take the blame for poor twc performance. We had a finished basement and no real way without spending tons of money to clean up the cabling. Now were in a custom built brand new home with a nice networking cabinet and still the same old shit. Should have known better just thought I could get away from all the problems.. I hear by wage war. I'm calling every time my speed dips below any reasonable amounts. In the old house they just gave up and maxed my service but even that sucks because come a years time the "forget" about all the problems and want to start charging you for all the "boosted" service. Wheres my beer.

Got Time Warner here in NYC - $195 a month for slowish internet because they're a monopoly in my building. But at least it's working.

95% of the time I agree but the other 5 is killing me. No other high speed options here so will just keep battling them..

Decades ago, cable companies were given monopolies in exchange for wiring the buildings. But that's more than 40 years ago. We should have a choice. If there was competition, I might only be paying $160 a month. WhEEEEEEE!

We had Verizon (Century Link) DSL until they couldn't figure out why it conked out anytime exterior temps were over about 75 deg. They replace the line to the house, the switch box, messed with the switch box down the street several times and finally told us it was inside the house. BS. We switched to Comcast which is more expensive out here, but we are consistently running over 36 down, 7 up and that's just for the 'base' package.

we just bought a new modem after our old modem was giving us trouble and had been for a month (internet wouldn't even connect half the time). that helped tremendously.

I do agree, the 5% of the time it doesn't work is super annoying, I was cleaning in my moms office where the router and the modem are, and the cord was all messed up, so I unplugged the modem, and it decided it wanted to be restarted about 5 times before it would reconnect to the internet.

it doesn't help we have an old cheap 30 dollar belkin n router either.

Could be, but probably a single cable coming into my apartment that takes away other choices. I'll take a photo tomorrow. We got one thing. And it's expensive.
